This Study is one of five—I was experimenting with palette painting and was really interested in creating texture. It gives off a sort of controlled chaos. And a monochromatic approach keeps it simple; allowing me to focus on value and texture as opposed to the full spectrum .

There is no real focus on the face, because the face isn’t important— just some shading and highlights to imply black features.

  • 16” x 20”

  • Acrylic paint on wood

  • 1 of 5 originals
